Reiki aims to improve health and enhance quality of life. It treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation, feelings of peace, security and well-being. Reiki is a simple, natural, safe method of energetic healing and self-improvement that everyone can benefit from. Reiki can increase the effectiveness of all other types of therapy and enhance medical treatments by acting to reduce negative side effects, shorten healing time, reduce or eliminate pain, reduce stress, and help create optimism.

How Does Reiki Work?

Ki is the universal life force also known as Chi in China, Prana in Sanskrit, Ti or Ki in Hawaii.

All living things have this non-physical force it is what animates the body and is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life. Life force flows within the physical body though pathways called chakras and meridians as well as around us in a field of energy called the aura. This life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. If your life force is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness and may feel low in spirits and energy. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick, will heal faster and will have a greater sense of well being.

Reiki is very powerful but very gentle it heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy, raising the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body. In so doing, Reiki allows the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Reiki Sessions

The treatment session is very calming and the pure energy can be felt radiating through you and surrounding you, promoting deep relaxation and healing

During a Reiki treatment, the client usually lies fully clothed on a padded table (can be done seated if required) whilst the practitioner follows a traditional pattern of hand positions, resting without pressure on or above the body. A session lasts 60 minutes but please allow up to 90 minutes. Due to its gentle nature, many people fall asleep as the experience is so soothing. For stress reduction 1-2 sessions are satisfactory, however for chronic conditions, long-term treatment may be recommended. You don’t need to be feeling stressed or unwell to benefit from Reiki as the deep relaxation achieved is very nurturing and enhances general wellbeing.
