Reiki Enhance the quality of your life

Reiki
“Rei” = Universal, Spiritual consciousness “Ki” = Lifeforce

Reiki aims to improve health and enhance the quality of life. It treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation, feelings of peace, security and well-being. Reiki is a simple, natural, safe method of energetic healing and self-improvement that everyone can benefit from. Reiki can increase the effectiveness of all other types of therapy and enhance medical treatments by acting to reduce negative side effects, shorten healing time, reduce or eliminate pain, reduce stress, and help create optimism.

How Does Reiki Work?

Ki is the universal life force also known as Chi in China, Prana in Sanskrit, Ti or Ki in Hawaii.

All living things have this non-physical force it is what animates the body and is the primary energy of our emotions, thoughts and spiritual life. Lifeforce flows within the physical body though pathways called chakras and meridians as well as around us in a field of energy called the aura. This life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. If your life force is low, or if there is a restriction in its flow, you will be more vulnerable to illness and may feel low in spirits and energy. When it is high and flowing freely, you are less likely to get sick, will heal faster and will have a greater sense of well being.

Reiki is very powerful but very gentle it heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy, raising the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body. In so doing, Reiki allows the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Reiki Sessions

The treatment session is very calming and the pure energy can be felt radiating through you and surrounding you, promoting deep relaxation and healing

During a Reiki treatment, the client usually lies fully clothed on a padded table (can be done seated if required) whilst the practitioner follows a traditional pattern of hand positions, resting without pressure on or above the body. A session lasts 60 minutes but please allow up to 90 minutes. Due to its gentle nature, many people fall asleep as the experience is so soothing. For stress reduction 1-2 sessions are satisfactory, however for chronic conditions, long-term treatment may be recommended. You don’t need to be feeling stressed or unwell to benefit from Reiki as the deep relaxation achieved is very nurturing and enhances general wellbeing.

For decades people have relaxed and meditated to soothing sounds, including recordings of waves lapping, desktop waterfalls and wind chimes. Lately, a new kind of sound therapy, often called sound healing or sound bath, has begun to attract a following. Also known as vibrational medicine, the practice employs the vibrations of the human voice as well as instruments that resonate to go beyond relaxation and stimulate healing.  These instruments are designed to resonate at certain frequencies and notes that can effect the body in a positive way.

Sound Healing  It’s an ancient therapy

While many people are only just discovering it, sound healing is actually a return to ancient cultural practices that used chants and instruments to restore health and relieve pain. Healing with sound dates back to most ancient cultures Greece when music was used in an attempt to cure mental disorders, Temple gongs ringing out to remind the villagers to be mindful, Singing bowls bringing a void into the mind to allow enlightenment to enter, Australian Aborigines with the didgeridoo or the American Indian with a drum – clearing the physical body and awakening the great spirit if you look closely every ancient culture will have some form of sound healing.

The power of sounds, sound therapy works

Sound therapy works on a vibrational level. Although we hear the sound with our ears the vibrations are felt with our whole body resonating in every single cell.  There are different types of sound therapy, all use special sounds that produce vibrations thought to improve brain waves giving a feeling of well being. This is how sound therapy can have such a profound effect on us. What sound healers have in common is a belief in the potency of sound to not only promote relaxation but relieve ailments, from common aches and pains to anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

How does Sound Therapy work

Sound healing uses different aspects of sound to improve your emotional and physical well-being. How it works depends on the method of sound healing therapy being used. A session may involve sitting or lying down either individually or in a group while listening to sounds produced from a range of instruments.  At Nature we can use Singing Bowls, Gongs, Drums, Chimes, Clapsticks and Bells during a sound bath.  No 2 sessions will ever be the same as each session is attuned to the participants.

What is acupuncture

Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is being practised for over 2000 years. The basis of Acupuncture is to bring the body into balance by restoring the flow of Qi. Qi (pronounced as “Chee” and also spelt as Chi or Ki) is vital energy that flows through channels known as meridians. If the flow of Qi in the meridians is disrupted, then disease may follow.

Acupuncture points

There are 14 major meridians with over 500 acupuncture points. By inserting fine needles into particular acupuncture points, the disruption can be corrected and the flow of Qi restored.

History

The Acupuncturist takes a detailed history and use traditional tongue and pulse diagnosis to assess your condition according to TCM. Then a prescription of acupuncture points specific to the individual will be used. Acupuncture points are usually stimulated using needles, but other methods such as moxa (heat), magnets, acupressure, laser and cupping can be used. All needles used are pre-sterilized disposables. The initial consultation will take around an hour with follow up consultations being 30 – 40 minutes, for most conditions treatment is 6 – 8 sessions.

Research

Acupuncture can be used for acute and chronic conditions but you do not need to be unwell to gain benefits as acupuncture is also used for wellness, relaxation and maintenance. Research has found that acupuncture may be effective in treating a range of disorders including digestive, emotional, general, gynaecological, musculo skeletal, neurological, respiratory and vascular.
